
How many times have you heard the term used to address a certain level of thinking as stemming from one's "lizard brain"? Well it turns out that this level of thought may be directly connected to an ancient ability to regenerate body parts in humans - similar to a lizard's ability to do the same. This term is usually used as an insult; reducing the insulted to lower level thinkers who are simply out for survival for themselves at any cost. But if one takes another look at the instinct to survive and using this ability in the best possible sense, then the regeneration of body parts would be a valuable ability to access. Academics from The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia found that mice lacking the p21 gene gain the ability to regenerate lost or damaged tissue.
