Looking for inspiration

I have started a theme for Wednesdays where I will be posting a bio on women who inspire me. I would like to focus on all types of women from all walks of life. So if you read my blog and you would like to share your inspiring bio with me, I will write about it. What can you find to be inspired about in your own life? Try looking at yourself objectively when you write about yourself as if you were someone else and see what you can find that would be inspiring.

Your life story doesn't have to be over the top dramatic and I would like for you to share how you overcame obstacles or challenges not just the obstacles and challenges. I think everyone has a heroine within, sometimes we just have to coax her out. I look forward to seeing what comes my way!

For the men reading: sorry guys, you have been covered plenty throughout history, and there are plenty of inspiring men and their inspiring feats that have been and continue to be shared. I'm looking for something I can focus on that I can relate to on a more personal level. Although the occasional inspiring men will slip into my posts from time to time.

Send your stories to: aineb@msn.com with My Story in the subject line. Be prepared to share a bio pic with your story, it doesn't have to be photo of yourself but something that resonates with you or that you would like to share (i.e. artwork, book jacket, pet, etc.)

I love this idea - I read your last one and loved it. I have nothing from my own life to inspire anybody - but I'd love to steal this idea from you and do some posts myself on women who inspire ME. How would you feel about that? I think it would be wonderful if many of us wrote about inspiring women in our blogs, as you say, men have been written about as inspiration down thru history - I'd be happy to do my part at calling attention to some of the many amazing women in our world, both past and present.
Let me know if this would be ok with you. - Mary Ellen

Of course Mary Ellen, steal away! Please don't discount yourself and if you don't want to go through writing out a post just give me some bio info and I'll write it, I prefer doing that anyway, it's like I'm researching and writing about someone else.
For one I am inspired by where you choose to live and that kitchen of yours-wow- very inspiring!

Hello Aine, I ran across your post by the Authentic Blogger group, and am glad that I did. I too think that is a wonderful idea. Unfortunately, I don't really have anything about myself, and I think that many women might be too modest to want to nominate themselves, but I think it would be a great idea if we could nominate other women if you would be open to that. :)

Great idea!

Thank you for your comment WRQ, if you have someone that you have comprehensive knowledge of their bio and background that would be along the lines of what one would find if they did biographical research on someone that you would like to share I would certainly be open. I'm looking for something more in depth and inspiring rather than something along the lines of a blurb about someone similar to what you would find when nominating someone for an award.
I hope women can find something to be inspired about in themselves though, this is part of what I am trying to accomplish with this exercise. Far too often women are taught to hide their light and what want to give them the freedom here to shine.

Aine, this idea made me smile. I often throw out a Helen Hayes quote, "We relish news of our heroes, forgetting that we are extraordinary to somebody too." I think that is such a powerful statement and it is one that I remind myself of, often.

As women, we are all hesitant to "blow our own horn" for fear of sound arrogant or presumptuous, or worse, conceited and ill mannered. When and where did this belief grow such deep roots in the minds of women that it is wrong to be proud of our accomplishments?

I am exceedingly proud of several things I have accomplished in my life, with a very recent one being creating the FB group and sister blog, Authentic Blogger. It started out as a small dream and is growing by leaps and bounds and is providing a voice & community for bloggers that is a unique format in the world of blogdom. I don't know if this quite falls into the category that you're looking for, Aine, but I still love your decision to celebrate women! We need more of this type of energy!

I'm glad you appreciate what I'm trying to do Dawn, please, whatever your feel comfortable sharing about yourself, I'd love to do a write up and post it. If you just want to give me even a basic outline, timeline of the highlights of your life, I can always ask you to fill in any blanks I might need and I will verify with you before posting that my facts are straight.
I hope you decide to participate.

Hello Aine,
This is my first visit to your blog. Found you via Reduce Footprints. This looks like a wonderful idea for an ongoing post. I look forward to reading what you share and will take a peak at your blog. I clicked on the badge of your book and it took me to a page that says: page not found. I was hoping to see what it is about.

Hi Tammie Lee,
Thanks for bring that to my attention, I really needed to put a blurb about my book in a caption under it as well. I've fixed the link and added a caption.
The link takes you to my website where you can then click to buy the book through Barnes and Noble. It is also available on Amazon.
But I did need to put some description out there about it. I did a promo tour when the book first came out and put out a lot about it then so I just forget that I need to update the info that's out there!!
I'm not the best at self-promotion, I prefer to focus just on the work at hand but that's limiting myself, so thanks for the kick in the behind and alerting me.
